‘The Left Behind Children’

CBBC Newsround Special

Client: BBC - via ‘Made In Colour’

A person walking a dog along a water path in a lush, tropical landscape with tall cliffs and palm trees.
Two women running in snow through a forest, each carrying a large woven bag on their back.
Sunset over a mountain landscape with two flying birds and distant large rock formations.
Anime character in winter coat and hat breathing out in cold snowstorm outdoors.
A boat carrying three people floating on calm water surrounded by tall rocky formations during sunset.

I was hired by independent studio ‘Made In Colour’ to design the look of, and animate the characters, creatures and 2D effects. All animated in Photoshop.

The short won a Royal Television Society award in the ‘Craft & Design’ category in 2016.

‘Imagine a country where it's normal for children to grow up a long way from their parents. That's what's happening right now in China, where 61 million children live apart from their mums and dads. We meet one boy to find out what it's like to be one of these "left-behind" children.” ~ CBBC Newsround
